From desktop to headset.

Start with a desktop stream, or open a browser without connecting to a PC. The newer browser and PC VR features require the preview.

1. Install Nightfall on Quest

Download the APK, sideload it and open Nightfall from Unknown Sources. Keep your PC and Quest on the same local network. A wired connection from the PC to your router is a useful starting point.

2. Connect to a streaming host

Nightfall uses the GameStream protocol. You can keep your existing Sunshine, Apollo, Vibepollo or another compatible host. Your host handles desktop capture and video encoding.

In the Linux preview, Meteor can offer to install its managed Vibepollo host if no compatible host is detected. You can also select an existing host. Follow the pairing code and approve the client on the host.

Connect from Nightfall and check that the desktop, audio and controls work before enabling AI 3D or adding more screens.

3. Add AI 3D if you want it

Enable AI 3D in Nightfall. On-headset inference does not require Meteor. With Meteor running on the PC, select it as the depth source to use a host-side model instead.

Begin with Auto and Stream priority. Separation controls the strength of stereo depth; convergence sets the zero-parallax plane. Use the final depthmap view to inspect what is driving the effect. Read about AI 3D and its limitations.

Just want a browser?

In the preview, choose Open Browser from the welcome screen. No PC or streaming host is required. Open a website, use tabs, and enable on-headset AI 3D for the primary browser screen.

Video and cloud gaming support depends on the website, its browser requirements and any subscription or DRM restrictions. A site working in a desktop browser does not guarantee that it will work here.

Ready for a PC VR game?

The Linux preview can stream supported XR applications through Meteor. There is a one-time runtime setup, approval and Steam launch configuration. Follow the Linux PC VR guide →
